Advisory and Legal Affairs Area
The Legal Division of the SIFC is responsible for providing institutional representation and specialized legal advice, ensuring compliance with the legal frameworks that govern the Corporation's operations. This area is comprised of several Specialized Negotiations, who serve specific functions depending on their area of competence.
Structure of the Legal Division
Litigation Negotiation
Responsible for representing the SIFC before the courts of Puerto Rico in court cases that include:
- Injury Claims
- Labor Demands
- Civil proceedings related to the SIFC operation
Negotiated Legal Advice
It provides legal opinions, assesses legal risks and advises management on issues such as:
- Public procurement and auctions
- Review of internal regulations
- Administrative Resolutions
- Institutional public policy
Appeals Negotiate
Manages the review and appeal processes of administrative decisions, ensuring compliance with:
- The Uniform Administrative Procedure Act (LPAU)
- Due process of law in administrative hearings
Ethics and Compliance Negotiation
It oversees that institutional action is governed by ethical principles and anti-corruption regulations. It also channels inquiries to the Office of Government Ethics (OEG).
