Our Services
The State Insurance Fund Corporation (SIFC) offers a comprehensive set of services aimed at protecting the worker and supporting the employer. Our model combines prevention, financial coverage and specialized medical care, making us the main public provider of occupational health services in Puerto Rico.
CFSE General Services
Our general services are designed to meet the essential needs of insured employers and protected workers:
- Issuance and renewal of employer policies:
We facilitate the formalization of compulsory insurance policies for all types of employers, whether permanent or temporary, ensuring compliance with Law No. 45. Guidance is also provided on risk classification and fees. - Evaluation and treatment of work injuries:
We treat acute or chronic conditions resulting from occupational accidents, from initial diagnosis to specialized medical treatment, including general medicine, orthopedics, surgery, and pain management. - Physical and occupational rehabilitation:
We offer physical therapy, physical and occupational therapy services to facilitate the recovery process of injured workers and their effective reintegration into the work environment. - Accident prevention programs:
We have a technical team that offers occupational risk assessments, training workshops, educational posters and personalized advice to promote safe work environments.
In addition, our services are available through a network of regional offices and the Industrial Hospital in San Juan, ensuring coverage throughout Puerto Rico.
Medical Services
The CFSE provides outpatient medical services to injured workers through its network of dispensaries and the Industrial Hospital.
Dispensaries and Industrial Hospital
- Regional Offices: They have internal dispensaries with first care rooms, gyms for physical therapy, areas for occupational therapy, pharmacies and radiology.
- 7 intermediate dispensaries: They provide all the services covered by the Act, allowing cases to be filed and policies formalized.
- 3 local dispensaries: They offer only outpatient medical services.
- Industrial Hospital: Specialized medical center for more complex cases.

- Magnetic resonance imaging (depending on availability)

- Post-accident vaccination (as needed)
First care rooms are also available for emergencies.
Network of Health Professionals
- More than 900 providers from 51 medical specialties.
- 247 full-time doctors stationed at the Industrial Hospital and dispensaries.
- Medical services, laboratories, hospitals and ambulances also contracted by the CFSE.
What if the employer doesn't have a policy?
Even if an employer is in default, Every injured worker has the right to receive medical care and other benefits established by the Act. In such cases, the expenses incurred by the SIFC will be invoiced directly to the employer.
Regional Services
To provide more and better services with greater accessibility to both employers and injured workers, the State Insurance Fund Corporation (SIFC) has nine (9) Regional Offices across the Island. To view the locations of our Regional Offices, click on the link below.
In our Regional Offices: Employers receive guidance services and can formalize a policy. Injured workers can file a case of accident at work, receive guidance on their claims, as well as the most comprehensive medical service. The State Insurance Fund Corporation has highly trained personnel committed to worker welfare to: Provide the best medical and rehabilitation services, counseling and financial compensation.

Industrial Hospital
The SIFC Industrial Hospital is the only hospital institution in Puerto Rico that specializes exclusively in the treatment of work-related injuries. It has highly trained medical staff and advanced technology to provide emergency, outpatient and hospital medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This hospital is a unique resource within the country's social security system, providing clinical, surgical and rehabilitation care under one roof, with a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach.
Industrial Hospital Services
The Industrial Hospital provides specialized services in:
- Work emergencies:
Immediate medical care for workers who suffer accidents in the workplace. The service is available 24 hours a day for acute emergencies. - Medical evaluations and expertise:
Detailed clinical evaluations and legal medical opinions are made that serve as a basis for determining the injured person's compensation or state of recovery. - Specialized therapies and surgeries:
We offer surgical interventions in areas such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery (in cases of burns or traumatic injuries), as well as physical, occupational and language therapies. - Psychosocial support and social work:
We provide counseling, psychological monitoring and clinical social work services to address the emotional and social impact that may arise as a result of an accident or occupational condition.
